What are nano brows?

Nano brows are hair strokes that are tattooed on to the eyebrow area. These hair

strokes are meant to look like natural eyebrow hair. A permanent makeup tattoo

machine and very fine needle are used to achieve this look. On a microscopic level,

pigment is implanted in a form of pointillism to create these thin lines/strokes. The

results from this technique very closely mirror that of microblading alone. The results

are very natural looking. Other terms that are used to describe this technique are 4D

brows, fusion brows, hair stroke brows, but do keep in mind these are all machine

strokes. Nano brows are newest technique brough to the Rockwall/DFW area.

What is the difference between Microblading and nano brows?

Microblading is performed with a small hand-held blade that is made of small needles called a microblade. The blade is glided across the skin in such a manner that it creates small slits that resemble the shape and movement of an eyebrow hair. When pigment is placed in the slit, the result is a small incision that looks like natural hair growth. Microblading is best for those with normal to dry skin and can last 1-3 years. Nano brows are not performed with a microblade, but with a permanent makeup tattoo machine. A single needle is used to create lines that look like eyebrow hairs in the form of pointillism. Although pointillism is used in nano brows that results do not appear that way. The results look like hair strokes to the naked eye. Nano brows are great for any skin type and are not limited to those with normal to dry skin. Nano brows can also last longer than microblading. In most cases nano brows last 2-3 years depending on everyday skin care routine. What we noticed in the Rockwall and Dallas/DFW area is that many clients had a many years and session of microblading and were not about to see hair strokes anymore. In many cases, with Nano Brows, we are able to implant strokes over the previous microblading that was performed.

Who is a good candidate for nano brows?

The best thing about nano brows is that this technique is great for any skin type. Nano brows can be performed oily skin, mature skin, combination skin, etc. Oily skin types do tend to fade faster than normal and dry skin types.

Who is not a good candidate for nano brows?

If you fall under one of the following categories nano brows (or any permanent makeup services) are not recommended:

·       Pregnant or breastfeeding

·       Taking blood thinning medications

·       Taking Accutane or any generic version in the last 12 months

·       Cancer treatments, chemo treatments or any medical treatments that can affect your immune system

·       Uncontrolled diabetes

·       Previous work that is still very saturated (send photos via email or text)

·       Allergic to lidocaine or epinephrine

·       Any medications that can affect pigment implantation or the healing process

o   If you are unsure consult with your primary care physician

How long do nano brows last?

Approximately 1-3 years. This technique causes less trauma to the skin than microblading therefore clients retain more pigment overtime.

What is the healing process for nano brows?

The healing process for nano brows takes approximately 2 weeks to complete in what is visible for the client. The first 3 days are the boldest/darkest. Anywhere from day 5-10 there may be dandruff-like flaking. This is known as the scabbing phase. Many clients will not experience any flaking. It is best to be prepared for this phase and plan accordingly. After the “flaking/scabbing” phase the strokes can appear slightly faded. This is normal! The pigment will darken gradually the following week. After 2 weeks the surface of the skin will be healed. It is recommended to wait 6 weeks after your initial appointment to book a touch up appointment if needed. During the session pigment is implanted in the second layer of the epidermis(superficially). That layer takes approximately 6 weeks to fully heal.

What are the aftercare instructions for nano brows?

The first 10 days are crucial in the healing process. During this time sanitization of the area is most important. For the first 10 days following your nano brows appointment you will need to cleanse your eyebrows with an antibacterial soap at night and in the morning. After cleansing it is recommended to use a moisturizing ointment, Aquaphor is recommended. For the same timeframe you should avoid applying makeup on your eyebrows and submerging them in large bodies of water. Anywhere from day 5-10 you’ll go through a flaking/scabbing phase. During this time, it will appear as though there is dandruff throughout the eyebrows. It is important to let them fall on their own and not to pick them off. Picking them off prematurely can lead to scar tissue or lack of pigment retention.

How long does the appointment take?

You can expect anywhere from 1.5-3 hours. 20-30 minutes of the appointment time is spend mapping and numbing the eyebrow area. If shading is added to the strokes numbing must be applied again and will contribute to the appointment duration.
